Re: Words i accumulated or invented so far
No, not pictograms. More like how Ancient Hebrew was pictographic, but then evolved into its modern form. The symbolism of the symbols is still there even though the symbols have changed. There's meaning behind each letter. The current Mando'a alphabet are just a bunch of symbols someone made up bec...

Re: Words i accumulated or invented so far
I'll have to post my work on creating a Mandalorian writing system. My main reason for attempting it was to overcome the copyright issue. But I also think we could use more intentional symbolism in our writing system

Re: Words i accumulated or invented so far
Easier for calculation. It would be easier to deal in units of ten, rather than what we currently have. Sixty seconds in a minute. Sixty minutes in an hour. Twenty-four hours in a day. Isn't that why metric vastly superior to imperial? Rather than having to deal with sixteen units in an inch. Twelve...

Re: Words i accumulated or invented so far
I suggest we develop a decimal time system. So much easier.
1 Day = 24 hours = 10 "hours"
1 "hour" = 2.4 hours = 10 "long minutes"
1 "long minute" = 14.4 minutes = 10 "minutes"
1 "minute" = 1.44 minutes = 10 "long seconds"
1 "long second" = 8.64 seconds = 10 "seconds"
1 "second" = 0.864 seconds
1 Day = 24 hours = 10 "hours"
1 "hour" = 2.4 hours = 10 "long minutes"
1 "long minute" = 14.4 minutes = 10 "minutes"
1 "minute" = 1.44 minutes = 10 "long seconds"
1 "long second" = 8.64 seconds = 10 "seconds"
1 "second" = 0.864 seconds

Re: Words i accumulated or invented so far
About the base five; this is from the numbers section of a Mando'a book: There are several interesting features of the numbers system. First, the basic numbers are actually a repetition of a system of five. 5 + 1 1 solus r aysh e 'a sol us → resol 6 5 + 2 2 t'ad raysh e 'a t ' ad → e'tad 7 5 + 3 3 e...

Re: Words i accumulated or invented so far
Very interesting. I'm curious where you got the time stuff from. In the existing dictionary there is a word for week: ray'ture. It would seem this word came from rayshe'a tuure meaning five days. Is there any reason why you chose to go with ten days rather than five?

Su'cuy ner vode. I'm Jaster Mereel. I've been a student of Mando'a for many years and hope to continue to learn here. You have developed a wonderful community here and I'm excited for what I can learn from you.
