Clan... .org?
Clan... .org?
I've started to make some foam armor for Halloween, and am currently in the process of making stencils for decals. Just this morning I asked myself, "What clan emblem would I wear?" My first thought was to find the clan I most relate to, but now I realize, when did I become a vod? Where did I find all my vod'e? Who let me know I wasn't the only one? Mando'a.org, and the people that exist here. So, I ask you, ner vod'e, can we be considered a clan? I would enjoy nothing more than to wear the mark of the real world Mandos, the mark of us, with pride every day. Ner vod'e, if we are to survive in this world where we are so few, we must unite! I believe the best way to do this is to find one name, and one emblem, that we can all identify with. Are you with me vod'e?

You could just go with the skull.
I give my clan name as "Tracyn," which you're welcome to use as well, but we don't have an emblem.

I've already thought of an emblem. See the the characters on the top left of the website right next to MANDO'A .ORG? I was thinking of bordering that with a circle and engraving in the circle "Knowledge and a sharp tongue" "Knowledge and a sharp tongue." What do you think, ner vod'e?

Re: Clan... .org?
Namewise I'd suggest something like...Miit'ganar, Wordsmith, or Joha, Language. Something rather specific to the spirit and activities of the group you know?
Also the letters could work? The surrounding it in a circle that says knowledge and a sharp tongue might be a bit complicated, but I guess there could be a more ornate pattern used on more special things. And then a simpler, more basic one?

also, I can't find a word for "A" in our vocabulary, do we just not use it? Kar’tayl bal (a) kadla lalat.

Re: Clan... .org?
Mando'a doesn't have an indefinite article, that is to say "a" or "an". We have two separate definitive articles but they are very rarely used. Mando'a largely functions without articles at all.

Late to the party, but I figured 'Org' was close enough. 'Ner gai Belandrie Meave, teh Aliit Org' is how I did it for the language-tutorial videos.

Re: Clan... .org?
So after multiple attempts, I am still unable to post images. I do have a link to my Deviant art account, where I have posted my draft for a clan emblem. You can all see it there, but if one of you have mastered the art of posting images, I would be great if you could post it to this thread. Here's my idea for a clan motto we could incorporate into the emblem: Kar’tayl bal kadla lalat.
I don't know if we typically have clan mottos as I've never heard of a clan with motto, but there's still much for me to learn, but I thought it would be nice to both have some sort of phrase on our emblem and have a phrase to identify our clan. Also, I'm Scottish, and Scottish clans all had a unique coat of arms, no different from an emblem, and a unique motto. Sorry for getting off topic, ner vod'e, but one last thing, I think the Scots were the closest recognized culture in earth history to the Mando. We had a similar clan system, a big emphasis on family, and honor was, and still is, very important to us.
Have a good day, ner vod'e.

Chiming in because Linebeck asked me to:
I like Belandrie's and Aondeug's name suggestions, and I like Linebeck's adoption of the motto. I've been out of the loop a while so I don't have any of my own ideas to contribute.

Re: Clan... .org?
Sorry I have not been on much, ner vod'e. I have been sucked into an endless void of school work and job finding. On top of that, my brother (He is not Mandalorian, so I will not say vod) is sick and hasn't been able to start on my armor. This means I won't have an excuse to wear my kit to school on Halloween. But here's what I have accomplished for the clan; I have made a print-out of the emblem and transcribed the motto. I feel like a name is something we must all agree on.

Re: Clan... .org?
Names mean things, yes. Quite a bit. Whether in Mando'a or not. I'd prefer a name that means something. As for Mando'a clan names...Fan clan names tend to use Mando'a words and at least some of the canon clans do as well. Skirata comes from skira and Fett comes from Vhett, for canon. Skirata can be argued to be indicative of Clan Skirata's themes and story in part. For fan names Naast in Georgia and Haaranovor in Alabama stand out to me. The latter's name is a reference to it as the secret Naast clan.
